If you see something spammy, just add a comment that says "spam" - nothing more, we'll take care of the rest.  And don't worry, we'll keep track of who's naughty and nice from there.

Cheers!

New Member Profile Pages, Dipdive Embeds on Twitter and More

Written by MrDippy on December 14, 2010, 1674 views

Hey Dipdivers! Time for another update!  We are always working on "under the hood" development to improve the performance of the site and the overall experience for content creators, members and casual site visitors.  But, every now and again, we like to point out a few highlights of what we've been up to!

Member Profile Updates

We've been really busy on the global site restyling and we've just completed a big update on Member Profile pages.  You'll now see a fresh, brighter look to all of your pages!  The restyling is just the groundwork for a bunch of great features that we are working on for Members.

Member Stream

With  other changes you've seen on the Dipdive.com home page, we're sure you've spotted the Member Stream of latest status updates.  This is just the beginning of more features around status and streams that we have planned...

Twitter Embedded Media

Dipdive was recently added to the list of embedded media supported content sites on #NewTwitter.  When a Dipdive picture or video URL is tweeted, the content is viewable in the tweet preview pane on Twitter.com for logged in Twitter users.  This should help any Dipdive content that you share be seen by more people! Thanks to our great friends at Twitter on getting that done with us!

Mobile

The latest Dipdive for BlackBerry Mobile App (v 1.11.1) now supports the new BlackBerry® Torch 9800 and Storm II touch devices.  Read more on the Dipdive Mobile blog.

Reminder: if you don't have a BlackBerry - you can view still view Dipdive content from any web-enabled smartphone via our mobile website!

Well, those are just a few of the things we've been working on.  We've got a whole lot in store for the new year!

As always, we'd appreciate your feedback!  Leave a comment on this blog or pop over to the Support Forum topic: Dipdive website features.

Everyone here at Dipdive wishes you a great holiday season and we look forward to growing with you all in 2011!

Dipdive Dev: Social and Mobile Update

Written by MrDippy on September 2, 2010, 1688 views

Social

We know you love your other social networks and we do to. That's why we've been laying the groundwork for more social integration, starting with Facebook and Twitter.  You were already able to add a Twitter account to update your Dipdive profile status and now you can also add your Facebook account.

You'll have to authorize Dipdive to link to your Twitter and Facebook accounts. You do this and adjust preferences from the Link Social Accounts page of your Profile Settings.

If you previously had Twitter linked to your Dipdive profile, you must now authorize it due to recent changes in how Twitter allows access to your timeline!

Also, once you link your Facebook and/or Twitter account, you'll be able to login to Dipdive with one-click using either of those credentials.

This is just the beginning.  We intend to roll out additional connected features; everything from inviting friends from your other networks to adding ability to automatically share your Dipdive activity.

Mobile

We've been busy on the mobile front, as well.

Just over a week ago, we dropped a BlackBerry mobile app update.  We've been working on improving performance and stability and, more importantly, we've made it easier to navigate.  We've also been adding more in-app content viewing.  You can read about the new version over on our Mobile Channel blog.  You can download the app directly from Dipdive or from BlackBerry App World.

Not to be understated, but if you don't have a BlackBerry - you can now view Dipdive videos from any web-enabled smartphone via our mobile site!

You'll see other small changes here and there as we continue to add new features and improve the usability of the site.  We'd love to hear what you think about connecting to your social accounts, using Dipdive on mobile and any other features you'd like to see on Dipdive.  Leave a comment!

Dipdive Dev: Midsummer Update

Written by MrDippy on July 21, 2010, 1678 views

Hello Dipdivers! Summer's not over yet and we have more cool features that launched this week.

Channel Finder: Check out the new Channel Finder menu at the top of every page - designed to help you more easily navigate.  We've grouped Channels into categories to help you browse those that match your interests.  You can still see a complete alphabetic list of all Channels with brief descriptions by clicking "Browse More Channels" at the bottom of the Channel Finder menu.

Social Share Bookmark: As promised in our last update, we launched a new version that makes sharing even more straight-forward.  With the updated Social Share Panel, you can more easily add content to your Dipdive library, share out on the web and share to your other social networks.

In addition to "Facebook Share", we've added the option to "Facebook Like" Dipdive content with one-click.

If you use Twitter, then you'll appreciate the new Tweet Box that lets you tweet directly from Dipdive.

Thanks for spreading the Dipdive word!

Mobile Site: We've given our mobile site a refreshed look and are working on a few more things that we hinted at earlier... Stay tuned for another mobile site update soon!

Dipdive Development: Summer Update

Written by MrDippy on June 18, 2010, 1597 views

Hello Dipdivers!  We know that it's been a LOOONG time since we've shared what we've been up to. In case you haven't been paying close attention, we thought we'd point out a few features launched over the past few months AND let you in on a few that are coming up in the next few.

  • Redesigned Member Settings: As Dipdive continues to grow, we often find ourselves needing to provide you with ability to modify preferences.  So, we've been working on more logical grouping for related settings that also accommodates upcoming features including expanded social network and mobile integration.  Don't forget that you can set your notification preferences to get instant updates from your friends and favorite Channels.

  • Friends: We want to make friendships on Dipdive more rewarding.  You'll now be able to see "Common Friends" when viewing other Dipdiver profiles. We're also working on some great ideas such as: importing friends from other social networks or your address books as well as better friend invitation features.  Look out for some of these during the summer.
  • Social Share Bookmark: We're just now telling you about it (you've surely seen it) AND we're already working on a new version that will launch in a few weeks!  We're going to make it even easier for you to share content from Dipdive out on the web and to your other social networks.  I'm sure that you'll be pleased with what we've come up with... in the meantime, please keep spreading the Dipdive word!

  • Video Thumbnails and Media Ordering in Sets:  Hopefully you didn't miss this feature: you can now upload custom thumbnail images for your video uploads. It will be displayed in media players, list pages and when you post videos outside of Dipdive via the embed player or when shared with sites such as Facebook.  If you make media sets (playlists) on Dipdive, There is now a simple preference that allows you to specify whether new media additions are placed at the top or bottom of the set; you'll see the setting when you create or edit a set.

  • Member Actions Menu: We have lots of plans for Member Profile pages, but wanted to start by making it easier for users (especially new users) to see what they can do right from their Profiles.  If you're not a Noobie, then you  already know that you have access to many of your actions (such as write a blog, manage your media, upload a picture, etc.) and sub-pages (Messages, Friends, etc.) right in the Member Toolbar at the top of the page.  For "create" actions, we've now added a shortcut "Actions" menu right in the Member information area on your Profile page, it looks like this:

  • Search and Platform: You don't ever see this stuff, but we hope that you'll feel it as you browse Dipdive. We've been making many improvements on the platform which should result in speedier page loads, faster search results and lots of "stuff" like that.
  • BlackBerry Mobile App: If you are a BlackBerry user - you may have caught our version 1.7 release back in April.  Whether you've tried that version or not, we can definitely say you're going to love the NEXT version we're working on now!

  • Channels: We should also mention that we've been building new stuff for our Channel Content Owners as well; everything from improved content management tools to front-end features like Polls, new widgets and page layout options.  Look out for these and more on the Channels you follow!

OK, so here's a few things to look forward to over the summer:

  • We're going to make it even easier for you to share Dipdive content on Facebook and Twitter.
  • How would you like to be able to browse content from ACROSS the site in more visual ways? We're working on it.
  • Look out for a fresh look on Dipdive's website, mobile site and BlackBerry app.
  • For you non-BlackBerry users: we're evolving our current mobile site with a refreshed look, more features and the ability to see more content, including all of the videos on Dipdive!

AND, we've got dozens more changes planned through the rest of this year! We'll let you know more as new features get closer to launch.

As always, we LOVE to hear your feedback and ideas, so please leave a comment here or on Support Channel Comments or participate in the Support Discussion Boards.

Get Instant Updates from Your Friends and Favorite Channels

Written by MrDippy on August 31, 2009, 1997 views

We've made it easier to keep in touch and manage your friends and favorite Dipdive Channels. With e-mail and BlackBerry mobile app notifications you will be in the know when it comes to the content of your friends and favorites. You can keep tabs on new content updates to the Channels you've favorited as well as all your friends, or maybe just your best friends. Go to your "Settings" and set your “Notifications” preferences. We offer both real-time or weekly updates. Check it out!

Also, Dipdive Members now have the ability to have as many best friends as they like and easily see them all on the new Best Friends tab. Let me clue you into a little secret. If you make your favorite artist's member profile one of your best friends and opt to receive immediate e-mail notifications from your best friends then you’ll be hooked to the artist who rocks your world. Yes, that means will.i.am can be your online BFF (or something like that)!
